We are pleased to announce the launch of our print sales program featuring the work of a small number of mentees from our Artistic Practice Support scheme. The revenue raised from the sale of these artworks will support the artists in question as well as our free mentorship program. This month we are pleased to launch a 260 x 380 mm archival pigment ink print by Portuguese photographer Carlos Barradas, in an edition of 5 + 1 AP.
Untitles, from the series Ferry Tales brings us a reality mired by solitude and intensity. It is where the fleeting instant meets the eternal moment. It is where the trivial acquires an exceptional quality. It is space circulating, starting and stopping, floating and buoying. This ongoing series of work explores the departure, journey and arrival of a myriad of ferry crossings, and the ship as heterotopia par excellence. In the words of Michel Foucault, ‘in civilizations without boats dreams dry up, and espionage takes the place of adventures, and the police that of the pirates’.
