Referencing anti-social behaviour, sexuality and traditional gender roles, this work offers both a critical and reflective response to men’s pursuit of power and control, and their inclination to engage in competitive and often harmful behaviours.

By giving a voice to his subjects, the author proposes to rethink and counter the sort of imagery normally associated with incarceration and confinement.

The labourers, brought in to prop up Dubai’s infrastructural aspirations are often enticed with false promises of prosperity, only to end up earning meagre wages and living in crowded accommodations with no proper plumbing.
