We are excited to announce that Edgar Martins’ latest project will debut across the UK in 2026 and 2027 through a major, three-part institutional collaboration.

A Brief History of Impossible Solutions for Insoluble Problems explores the profound psychological thresholds of human vulnerability. Originally developed with the Institute of Legal Medicine and several mental health charities, the series uses specialist medical imaging to photograph highly sensitive documents—from confession notes to letters of prayer—written by individuals standing at the precipice of irrevocable action, but who ultimately chose not to act.

By capturing only the luminous edges of these documents and obscuring the text, the work protects the authors’ privacy while activating a vital conversation around mental health, trauma, survival and prayer.

The project will be presented as a cross-sectoral initiative featuring talks, educational events, and a newly produced film, building toward a major upcoming photobook release.
